Strange betta

I have a white betta, presumed to be male, although it's fins are shorter than other males, but a bit longer than females, "it" is also very fat, and I cant tel if there is the white spot on the bottom because it it white It is also very calm, and my male betta who shared the divided tank jumped to it's side of the tank when I left the lid open Anyone know? I'll try to get a pic

Bad news, right after I took these pictures, I saw my gudgeon spit out the last 2 inches of horsefaced loach

but i know what u mean about hard to tell.. i have the same problem..

a white male/female.. cant tell what it is.

i added a pic to show u what i mean. it was in a females tank so i assumed female but its so hard to tell..

i guess yours was in a cup? that probably means its a male but who knows pet stores mess things up all the time

I'm puting "it" on a diet for a while, maybe a 3-4 day fast

well some of my cts and plakats have the white dot, but their males. it could be eggs and there are long finned females.

So it's either a se mi short finned male who is bloated, or a fat longfinned female with eggs? Hmmm...

If it is in fact a he I would say that you could possibly have a betta with a tumor on your hands. I have a photo of a betta with a tumor that bears a striking resemblance to your picture.

Wouldn't a tumor be uneven, the betta is fat...But the stomach is big and round I don't know, I'm just guessing.

Tumors are usually if not always (i believe) rounded... the semi good news is that bettas with tumors can live a normal life. I don't know exactly how long he/she has been displaying the bloated symptoms however that would provide some insight into what might be going on. I sincerely hope that it is something simple and i just hate to be the one to say it might be something undesirable. I wish you the best of luck with your fasting and hope that you come to some sort of quick and easy remedy.

He/she's only started to be fat since mid july Poor thing will be so hungry while mr lean mean killing machine betta chows down right next door

looks like amale with a fat belly. I have seen several males this way. The only way to tell if the "white" spot is visible.
