Strainer On Filter Input.

I'm in the process of buying an external filter, it doesnt have a strainer on the input though, is it safe to run without one? or should i put a mesh over the input or something like a fishnet stocking?

My external filter didn't come with a strainer so I bought one from the shop for £1.50

If it's anything like mine then without the strainer all your fish would disappear!

For that price theres not much point botching a DIY one is there, i'll have a look around my LFS's

I ordered an official Eheim strainer for the filter for 11 bucks on amazon. Should have gotton it in mail today (havent checked yet) but I will let you know how well it work. right now I am doing a makeshift stainer:

Just took an old one and placed filter floss around the took to make it stay on.
