I tried the search function but didn't quite find tips.

So wondering is there anything I can do if I've a power cut? We've a storm kicking up (Storm Ellen) & losing power can be regular enough with big storms. Worst I had was 2 days no power.

Would the fish survive if the water temp drops & they've no filter? Our two water is over 10 degrees colder than tank water.

Already parts of another county are without power & storm only hit 2.5 hrs ago.

Eek.

If its a few days and not in a freezing room it should be ok.Just like fish can tolerate heatwaves as long as they don't go on too long they can manage cooler water. And if the lid is sealed it will cool a lot slower than the air.

Just seen the waeather and it looks awful where you are . Fingers crossed for all of you.

We're ok. Put house is set down lower in the garden so we got buffered really. But power gone 19 hours now and won't be restored for another 26 hours. I'm quite worried about the fish, they look ok so far. Eek!!

Our neighbours have had trees & fences down, roof slates gone & gutters off too. So we're lucky in terms of no external damage to our land or home.

Just wish the power would come back.

I'm glad you weren't hit too badly, have thought about the people being battered by the storm...

Your fish will most likely be fine, I saw you say you'll be using blankets to keep the temp as steady as possible, and you shared with someone how to oxygenate the water in an emergency without an air pump. The fish will ride this out along with you, and we can cross any cycle issues with the filter when the time comes. But the live plants will be a big help now the filter is down, so try not to worry too much, and focus on you and your community :)

Good news for my Gold Spotted Common Plecos! The Galway Aquarium will take them. So we'll have a day trip tomorrow (1.5hr drive and sure we'll visit the Aquarium for a time) and they'll have a happy new big home!
