I have a 50 gal planted tank (photos at Trops tank)
Having read the various articles on stocking – ie 1” to 1 gal, I now have in the tank

3 clown loach (2" each) , 5 hatchet fish,(1/2 " each) 2 dwarf gouramis,(1
1/2 " each) 2 golden gourami’s, (2” each) 2 honey gourami’s 1” each) 1 paradise fish, (3") 5 neons, (1" each) 4 rummy nose tetras, (1" each), 1 angel fish (1 1/2") 3 balloon mollies, (1” each) 3 sunrise platies.(1" each) 2 pygmy sucking loach (1" each)
Apparently neons for example don’t actually use actually "use" the load of their length. Hopefully when the angel and gourami’s get bigger, hubby will have bought me another tank. Tank is well filtered, established about 4 months, nitrate, ammonia nil, ph is 7 although I’m trying to increase that a bit by filtering over crushed coral. Water changes are done at leas once a week, probably more.
I’m not overstocked am I?

Also have a cw water tank with 1x3” Moor, 1 x 4” Oranda, 1x 3” Oranda 1x 2” lionhead, 2 small pearscales and a plec (Photos Cold Water) but this tank I’ve had for 2 or 3 years now.
Also a small breeding tank currently holding 4 molly or platy fry.

I wouldn't say you were overstocked, but for a tank thats only been running for 4 months you've certainly got enough fish. Your Clowns could get to 10" long ( but will take a couple of years ) and watch out for your Neons, your Angel will love them for dinner one day. your PH at 7 is fine IMO, and I wouldn't go messing with it, causes more problems than what it's worth. HTH

If you are sure you can pester hubby into a new bigger tank in the not too distant future then I think you are ok for now. I agree with Fat Boy on the PH, leave it alone 7 is fine for most fish and stability is better than a 'perfect' PH.

Ditto on leaving the pH alone - angels prefer softer water with a lower pH. Not exactly the best tankmates for mollies which prefer harder water. You're OK for now, but another tank is definitely going to be in order :)

Looks good for now but I would think about the size on the Angels and the clowns. The Mollies and Platies can give you lots of fry so maybe a livebearer tank? Do you have both sexes on them?
