1 zebra spiny eel (Mastacembelus zebrinus)
8 dwarf loaches (Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki)
3 upside down catfish (Synodontis nigriventris)
6 kuhlie loaches
8 zebra danios

I honestly had no idea where to post this.. everybody puts their stocking ideas in TCC but I don't think any of the common visitors there know anything about zebra spiny eels...

So... does this sound okay?
Could I have two zebra spiny eels?

weekly 30% water changes
heavily planted
lots of bogwood, too.

The bottom is very heavily stocked. And I would be worried about the spiny eel eating the kuhlies.

how about:
1 zebra spiny eel (Mastacembelus zebrinus)
6 dwarf loaches (Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki)
3 upside down catfish (Synodontis nigriventris)
10 zebra danios

Well I already have kuhlie loaches... but I guess I could take them back when I take the other ones back too... I just didn't think they'd cause any problems. They are fully grown.

Fair enough, just remember that the eel can get upto 18", though. :good:

I'm going by CFC here:
Mastacembelus zebrinus, Zebra spiny eel. Max size 6" in captivity, suitable for tanks of 20g upwards
In one of the pinned threads...

If it is M.zebrinus then i wouldnt expect any more than 6-8 inches in captivity unless you have a huge aquarium, fishbase list them at 46cm max size but the Baensch atlas has them at 9cm and since the latter is written by hobbiests while fishbase is put together by scientists i tend to stick to the book, of course the species name could actually be a whole group of very similar looking fish which all reach different sizes as often happens with oddball fish.

But they have the potential to get upto 18". You might just get the odd one

Its like saying put a man in a room and he will porbably grow to just under 6ft

but then there will be those few that get way above that. :good:

If I got one that got bigger than that I would be glad to upgrade the tank for it. :p

But does it sound good with the kuhlies and everything?
