I have a planted ten gallon with a betta fish and 3 nerite snails, wondering if I could add anything else? Thinking either a mystery snail or some shrimp (maybe an amano) i’d love fish but that seems a bit much, and i don’t want to stress out the fish or put strain on my filter

let me know if this is feasible or if you have any other ideas!

aquarium info:

size: ten gallon
current stocking: one male betta, three tiger nerites
30-50% weekly water changes
aqueon quietflow 10 filter
seachem prime conditioner
dosing half pump of NilocG thrive weekly

also, it’s a botanical aquarium with a layer of almond leaves that I allow to decay at the bottom, the snails loooove to eat it which is partly why i wanted more algae eaters (in hopes they’d actually go after algae rather than the leaves lol) but also I just want to see some more movement and diversity AD1DEB6A-226B-48B8-A3D2-38FB20D46820.jpeg

Good call on no other fish. I would try adding shrimps that are fully grown and over an inch long. Amanos are good and a lot of the Neocaridina sp.

thanks!! someone on another forum recommended me 4 corydoras and i was like… that doesn’t seem right 😂 plus my substrate is def not appropriate for them

Nice tank, always like natural looks and lots of plants. Yeah, given the size and the fish you have, better hold back on adding any more fish. A mystery would be a nice addition, and/or a grown-enough shrimp as Rocky suggested so that your betta doesn't want to try to snack on it.

Having 3 nerites though, you might start seeing eggs, not that they would hatch or anything, from what I've read it rarely happens, just be ready for the egg sacks appearing on your plants
