Hi guys, having just moved house and set up my tank again, I've found myself wanting to revitalise my set up and add to the community. The main reason is that the tank is now in the living room and is the first thing you see when you enter the house so I want people to be blown away. Ive got a 3ft tank holding approx 160L which has been running for about 4 years and I'm planning on upgrading my filtration from an interpet pf4 to either a fluval 305 or an eheim 2224 ( which I can get for £89.99).

I just need some help on what to get and would there be any issues with what I've got in mind.

I'd just like to add that the move went swimmingly :lol: and everyone survived!

Current members of the community;

1 adult angel ( had 2 but 1 died unexpectedly a few months back)
10 harlequin rasboras
5 albino corrys
2 bristle nose plecs

Planning on adding;

10 black widow tetra
6 cherry shrimp

Also wanted to add another larger fish to accompany my angel as the centrepiece, preferably something colourful.

All suggestions/ alterations welcome!

I'm not sure on the shrimp, I think they may be picked off by the others in the tank. I do not have a lot of experience with shrimp but I have discovered they get eaten by many kinds of fish.
In regards for another centerpeice fish, you could go with maybe a couple of Gold Gouramis or two more angels

If you want a truly impressive tank, at first sight, how about a nice big school of rummy nose? They are known to be about the best schooling fish and a group of maybe 15 to 20 will be a real eye catcher. One of my LFS has that kind of group in a 100 gallon display tank and it makes everyone stop and watch for a while. It is simply stunning.

Hmm, shame about the shrimp. Really wanted some as I find them fascinating. Anyone else have experience with cherry shrimp in the community tank?

The rummy noses sound a good idea having just read up on them, will have to see if a LFS stock them as I didn't see them while at my usual LFS.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

The thing with shrimp is that they'll get eaten if they're small enough to fit in the mouths of your fish. Depending on how much they cost in your area, it may be worth trying to see what happens.

An alternative could be to go for one of the larger filter feeding kinds of shrimp. I have a bamboo shrimp and he's fascinating.

Thankd for the comments,

Hmm, maybe I'll give them a try. See how they fair against my angel fish as she is the only fish I have with a mouth big enough to eat them.

Any other suggestions?
