So I'm in the middle of my fishless cycle, trying to settle on a stocking list so i can be ready to go and put them all in there for minimal bacterial die off. It's a 10 gallon with aquaclear 20 filter.

Wanted a small colorful schooling fish, so 6-8 neon tetras. Wanted a bigger centerpiece fish, so was thinking of a betta, anyone think of any other alternatives?

Also wanted some bottom dwellers, would love some corys but seeing as they need a group as well think that would be a bit much? The pygmy cories don't appeal to me, they don't even look like catfish. Ottos would probably work but they aren't exactly bottom dwellers from what I read.

You could do a honey gourami or maybe a dwarf as an alternative to a betta.

For your total stocking you could also probably do 6 not-huge corys and 1 betta/honey as an alternative to the neons.
