I'm setting up a 50 gallon (190 litres) tank for my sister with;

2 Otto's (she already has in a smaller tank)
6 platies (she already has in a smaller tank)
3 Cherry Barbs
2 Kribensis
4 zebra Danio's
6 Neons

Anyone see any probs with that combo? I don't think that'll be heavilly stocked as she's a beginner.

Cheers
Andy

I'd maybe add some more otos as they are quite mini and like to be in a group. They might get a fright with all that space and only 2 of them IMO.

Also, barbs should be kept in a group of 6+ to minimise aggression towards other fish. Does she have any plans for bottom feeders? I have always been one for a good top/middle/bottom balance, ok maybe a bit more bottom! LOL

:)

Sounds nice and lightly stocked to me....and a nice mix, but yes, more ottos would be better. More neons maybe too, say 10 or 12

If you want a pair of kribs I could supply you with them as I am in london too, unless you already have them??

just a thought!

Good luck with the setup!

Cherry barbs are a barb that likes to be in a pair or trio. They actually don't like to be in groups. The best combo is 2 females and one male. So 3 is perfect. They are very timid and don't fin nip or harass other fish.

Up the danios to like 8-10, neons to 10-15 and otos to like 5 and you will be good. You have pleanty of room to ad more!

I was thinking about it and it may look beter if you have like 20 neons or 20 ZD's instead of 10 and 10
