I’m not interested in a barb only tank. I’d like to keep the TB’s at 12, add Cory cats, a few platy, and a good sized and hardy colorful centerpiece fish. The gourami was my first choice, with cichlids a close second but I see that those are not options.

Thank you. I don't like suggesting fish to others as it should be your tank, but I am always prepared to point out issues I see. Fish species and habitats is my area.

The TB at 12 with cories will work well; the platy might fit in, though be prepared to have to remove them once the TB are "settled." I most assuredly would not consider any other fish species; a centerpiece will not work in this small of a tank with the TB.
