Hi all

I have just finished setting up my 7.5 gallons or 28 liter nano planted tank. As you can see by previous treads I have posted I was thinking of stocking this tank with 3-4 African dwarf frogs, but after going to my LFS yesterday as seeing there beautiful bettas I realised again why I fell in love with these fish.

I still want African dwarf frogs as I currently have one (I know they need to be in groups, she was in a group but one passed away from old age sadly and due to the pandemic LFS in my area could not get them in) this is going to be a bit of an upgrade for my frogs.

My question is could I get a betta (I will probably get a plaket as they can swim more easily) and 3 African dwarf frogs in this tank, I will choose a calm betta and the tank has many hiding places for the frogs. The tank also has a large canister filter so filtration is not a problem. I have seen this done on youtube in smaller tanks but I would appreciate people honest opinion.

thanks. ember04

Hi Ember, welcome :)
Plakats are lovely but Betta are best kept alone as they can be aggressive. Other animals in their territory could cause stress which leads to illnesses.
ADF s should not be kept with fish as they have poor sight and take a long time to find the food. If the fish eat the food first then frogs can starve.
I recommend getting another tank.

Ok, thanks for your honesty I will stick to my original plan of an African dwarf frog species tank with 3-4 frogs and maybe a snail but that's it.

thanks so much
