Okay I'll bite.

I don't like 3 because it just seems it would be a bunch of little fish swimming. I like the idea of two bigger shoals and then the shrimp for interest and the pearl gourami for the center. I just think that would look better but it really is just preferences ya know. That is why people aren't biting on this. You could frame it as a poll?

Good luck. It is all fun.

I think it is because there was already a thread on it. I said in the other thread that I think less species in larger numbers tend to make the fish act more naturally and looks better overall because the fish shoal together better. That said I like #2

5 x Tiger Shrimp (Caridina cantonensis sp. Tiger)
11 x Lemon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis)
11 x Glowlight Tetra (Hemigrammus erythrozonus)
7 x Three Lined Cory (Corydoras trilineatus)
1 x Pearl Gourami (Trichogaster leerii)

Im not sure why you are so in love with shrimp but Ill just let it go. What substrate are you planning on using? Need either very small, rounded gravel or sand for the Corys. I would keep the stocking of Corys around 7 like you have, because although it is a 45 gallon, you dont have a huge footprint with only a 12" wide tank.

What sort of lighting are you going to have for the plants? Your tank is pretty #40## deep, so honestly I would avoid a floating plant because you are going to want as much light penetration as you can get. That ALSO said, with a lot of wattage comes the chance for algae. I'm not sure if shrimp do anything with algae, but I dont think they do, in which case you may want a smallish plec like a bristlenose or a clown plec in case you break out.

thank you!!!!!!

lighting will be flourescent(have not gotten it yet)

black sand will be the substrate for the cories and to compliment the colors of the glowlight tetras and lemon tetras

sorry about all the posts just wondering if someone else has a thought on this

if i get a pleco does it need to have driftwood?

also if i take out the shrimps and i add a bristlenose or clown pleco would that keep the stocking at the same level?

sorry for all the threads again and thanks for sticking with me        :good: :good: :good: :good: :good: :good:

If you get a BN or a clown, you'd want at least one piece of wood, yes. Not sure about shrimp bioload like I said but one small plec won't hurt you.

so ill go with option 2 and add a smal plec in there like bristlenose or clown :good: :good: :good: :good: :good:

I went for 3 as I love Rummy Noses's and Harlequin Rasbora's :D

if i get a bigger tank after that one i would move all of the current stock to the bigger one plus add h. rasboras and rummy noses!! and maybe some loaches!(not clowns) :good: :good: :good: :good: :good: :good:

thanks for voting :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

wow it neck and neck between 2 and 3.....

for option 3 would it be possible to add a pearl gourami if i lower all the schooing fish to 6 each?  :X :X

1 pearl gourami
7 x Lemon Tetra (Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis)
