Hi again,

We've escaped the feeding emergency with only one loss, and have now gone a little more than a week with the 5 gold barbs that I have all being pretty happy and playing around in the tank.

Our current stocking goal:

6 gold barbs
6 panda corys
1 angelfish

I have:

29GAL, kind of planted [working on that more]
Marineland C-220 Canister

My question is - If I wanted more barbs, to expand that school and really give the tank some color in the middle, would it be possible to go up to perhaps something like 8 barbs while retaining the 6 cories for their school? Or will I really be pushing things at that point?

If you're getting zeros on your nitrite and ammonia tests then I think you've got plenty of room for stock.

I have a recently cycled 24 gallon with 2 Gold Rams, 7 Splash Tetra, 9 Neons, 7 Pygmy Corys and 3 Amano Shrimp. My filter is holding up fine.

What are the dimensions of the tank? Angels need a take thats atleast 18" high. I would say you still have some room on the bottom maybr up the corys to 8 and add a bristlenose plec or banjo catfish or 3 upside down catfish.

The tank is 30x12x18 - bought the 29 instead of a 20 long just so that it has the extra space vertically for the angel.

Definitely no ammonia in the tank right now, but the only fish in the tank at the moment are 5 gold barbs. Ideally, I'd like to bring that up to 8 or so.

1 Angel
8 Gold Barbs
6 Panda corys

We'll see how things do over time. I know it's going to be close, but the extra barbs will make everyone calm down a little bit i think - right now they are pretty skittish and hide every time someone walks past the tank :)

As long as you change things slowly, you should have room for all of the fish you presently want. Maybe make the move to 8 gold barbs next and then a few weeks later bring in the cories. What kind of cories are you looking to get?

I would keep an eye on the barbs nipping at the angel. But if you get 8, they should entertain themselves. Also, good choice on the Golden. They are not the most aggressive barbs.
As mentioned above, stocking levels should be fine. Just keep an eye on your water stats and add fish gradually
