I have a new tank that is just about cycled. Ammonia and nitrite are 0 and nitrates about 12.5ppm. I just have a few zebra danios and wondered what people think are a good choice as next fish. I'm interested in live bearers - is it too soon for platies? Or am I best getting ground feeders or algae eaters to help the tank?

it might be to small but i like tiger barbs look cool and act the same also

Platies are pretty hardy fish, they would probably be a good next choice.

If you don't already have 6, increase the danio school first. Then think about other fish. Platys are a fine next choice as they are hardy and don't have the temptingly long fins that some other livebearers have.
