*I'll post it anyways as i still need some ideas/feedback*

Hey there folks have a question pertaining to stocking my 65 gallon planted tank!

So here is what I have so far in terms of ideas.
1. 5-6 Toxotes microlepis
2. Some sort of spiny eel (what species might you recommend? I don't particularly care for the peacocks but i know fire eels are out of the question with this tank size and water requirements)
3. Would some sort of knife fish work? I was looking at some info on the African Knife fish, Xenomystus nigri I believe? If i kept the water chemistry stable and a pH that is fairly basic might this work?

If not any other recommendations are welcome! I really love oddballs when it comes to fish!

Anyone have any experience with Mastacembelus dayi? Aka the black spotted spiny eel?

Also do zig zag eels get as long and girth-y as tire tracks?

Shovelman, I just noticed that your tank is planted. You do know any spiny eel species is going to re-arrange the landscape daily, right?

yup! For the most part though these are anubias, and java ferns that i attach to driftwood rather than plant in substrate so it should be fine.

Ok, yeah, that'll work. Can't wait for you to get your eel. You seem very excited about it. I don't have the room for one now, so I will have to live vicariously through you.

lol sounds good! although beware! If i find anyone willing to sell a Typhlonectes natans, spiny eel will be out of the picture!

Man, those things are boring! We used to sell them at the wholesale and retail places I used to work at. It's not even a fish! To each his own, I guess. I just don't get the appeal of the Caecilians. I can't imagine them being in short supply. Ours were always giving birth to live young.
