Hello everyone, I have just decided to get into the hobby. I have purchased a 15 gallon tank and recently added a datnoid, senegal bichir and a banded leporinus. The fishes in the tank will be transferred to a 110 gallon tank along with the black aro. There are just so many fish for a 15 gallon to choose from, I just want to make the right choice so all the fish can interact with each other without getting hostile. Maybe some cichilds?

Are you aware of the 'nitrogen cycle' for our filters? We need to grow colonies of beneficial bacteria to turn waste (ammonia) into nitrAte. If you are fully clued up on this subject, i hope you enjoy your new hobby, if not, may i suggest a visit to the 'beginners section' on here?

Terry.

I agree.
You have made no mention of cycling your tank. I think you need to reed the beginners resource center, it will save you a lot of heartache.

i third this..i didnt cycle my 15G and and all my fish died :(

Thanks for the input guys. 
The tank have been cycled for three days through fishless cycling. and the ammonia have been lower down to 5ppm. The main problem is the nitrites can't be lower down.. I am considering lower the nitrites using chemicals.
Theres a lot things to learn from here. 

It takes weeks, not days, for a tank to cycle. (I learned the hard way.) If you've been cycling three days, the tank isn't cycled yet.

It takes weeks. Your only cycle when your ammonia and nitrites go down from 5ppm to 0ppm within 12 hours. Oh and do no try to add fish with a level of ammonia!

thank-you..i hope you havent got fish in the tank thats reading 5ppm of Ammonia...Cycles take an awful lot longer than 3 days....one of mine is in its 3rd week...and one in second...it can take up to 6-7 weeks to cycle the tank....please read the fishless cycle section in the begginers section x P.S my fish died with just 0.25ppm of ammonia present!

Indeed, anything above zero ammonia is toxic to fish. Even if the fish survive, it's likely to cause them health problems in the long run.
