Stocking 42L Planted Tank

I have inherrited a free 42L tank that measures 18x12x12". It is going to be planted and i will be moving my 4 Cardinals across from the 35L, how many Cardinals could i up these to 6-7 maybe? Also want to add some cherry shrimp, would this be ok?

Maybe add a Betta?

Cheerys and Cardinals will be fine. 8 Cardinals will be fine with shrimp

Not sure about the Betta though, have to wait for a Betta expert . Tho he may eat some shrimp . I've heard it done!

And that's some expencive fish food for the Betta!!

I reckon if you get a small Betta you should be safe, like i said my huge females can swallow them whole but they are 3"+ so really are huge

You tend to kill Cardinals and I tend to kill Harlequin Rasbora god help us!

Oh yea, forgot to say.. I upped my Rummys to 14 from 8 looks much better! Thinking of getting rid of the 6 Harlequins I still have and getting anotehr 6 Rummys in there place. Never known fish schoal as much as Rummys they are stunners!!

You can get crystal reds on ebay for about £30 (10) but resale value is decent of course

I may look into something different as if i get them breeding then i should be able to sell any young for more money too as you say.

they had some in my LFS a week ago was the same price as cherry red shrimp
