Hello.

My cycling is coming along nicely, Been reading intensely for the last week or so about stocking, and I think I'm coming to a conclusion, I've got 290 litres to play with. I'm thinking along the lines of.

12 Corys of yet undecided type
10 Black neon tetra ( would love normal neon tetra, but worried about them becoming fast food)
10 Serpae Tetra
6 Dwarf Gourami ( These are going to be my larger fish, would like something larger but cannot find one that won't go on a feeding frenzy or bully fest)

Any more recommendations or alterations?

I have fifty fifty mix of RO water and my local water. which leaves me with a Ph of 7.2 and GH of 10 degrees. I've got a selection of plants, Not all hardy ones.

All ideas welcome, I've been scratching my head over this for an age now.

Thanks

Dave

Love the cories, and the tetras and cories all seem to be in large enough numbers.

The dwarf gouramis, I might actually consider cutting down your numbers. You won't want to keep two males together as they can get quite aggressive towards each other, and one male to five females is probably going to be too much.

Any particular reason you're using RO water? We generally only recommend it for only the most extreme of cases, as most of the time it's just unnecessary work.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
The Gourami are the ones that are causing my grief, I want a nice center piece species. So have not 100% decided on them. Would 4 or 3 be better, and get something else in with them?

My tap water is very hard. 8.4 and GH of 26. So to give me more options I'm softening it with RO.

I've got a gourami, but only a single male as I dont have enough space for a few females too. You generally want trio - 2 females to one male. It is technically possible to have multiple males if you have a big enough tank but not worth the risk in my opinion.

I really love my dwarf gourami though, he's easily the most interesting fish in my tank. My other fish seem to just swim around in the tank randomly, whereas with my DG you can tell he's thinking about stuff and investigating. Love him. I'm stuck with some guppies at the moment, but when I can, either by my guppies dying or getting a bigger tank, definitely want more gouramies.

Yeah, I've seen some stunning Gourami. I've got a four foot tank, over two foot tall and a foot and half deep. So what'd ya reckon, one male two females?
