i bought one today. anyone ever seen them before? they are awesome!!! looks like a stingray from far away. you can see their heart beating when they are on the glass. when i get pics i will post them.
 
Yep normally called Hillstream Loaches, nice litte fish. :thumbs:

Yup they sure are, but they are also coldwater -_-
Also true but they can live in low tropical temps, and they also need a relativly fast current.

I had mine at 75F for a short time and they were very unhappy. I didn't know at the time but I could tell afterwards when the tank was converted to coldwater. They were much more active and have grown.
 
I didn't say they would be happy just that they can be kept at that temp. They do like cooler water that resembles the cool, fresh and fast flowing waters of the chinese streams that they come from.
 
I have one of those fish too, I call them Stingray Loaches though. The best environment for them would be a current, coldwater, algae on sides and peaceful tankmates. They are not really tropical as it sometimes stunts their growth.
