ok i have been searching the net for days for this fish-i've seen it at petshops before...they are not too common but not too rare also-they look like small sting rays but they are freshwater algae eating fish-flat body with a long tail? you can usually see its mouth when its sucking on glass towards you...please give me the name if you know

Flat loach, scorpion loach.

no, it is not a pleco thats way too easy.......its not just flat like a pleco, its round and flat like a sting ray....i think it may also swim like a ray, with its flat sides..i dont think its those loaches you named also its not the pleco looking ones in that link also they are a light peach color?

I'd bet a hundred quid that you've seen a borneo sucker (hill stream loach) gastromyzon sp..

Looks a little like a minature ray, with fins fringing the sides, eats algae and has lots and lots of misleading common names.

Colours vary.

Flat bullhead.

Do we win a prize if we get it right.

same here. I almost bought i few because i thought they were real plecos and Neede an algae eater in my 10

They aren't that expensive...they sell for $5-6 around here. If my LFS brings them in next weeks order I'm getting one. :)
