I really like scarlet tetras, and tiger barbs. Those are my favorite fish besides clown loaches lol, if i could get one of those in with a bunch of other fish that would be great. What would u suggest to get for a 55 gallon, if i could get one of those? and how many?

well lets see...tiger barbs don't have that name for nothing ;) ;) ;) of course this is not from personal experince due to the fact that after my pirhanas died I went to a stricly cichlid diet :p :p :p but I would think that tetras would be your safest bet

What would be good fish to add in with tetras?

Tiger Barbs are fine in a big shoal in a roomy tank with plenty of swimming space and bushy plants around the edges. They're only really a problem when there are 1 or 2 in a small tank. In large shoals their focus is centred on each other, the males will be competing with each other and showing to the females, they need lots of swimming space to do this happily. In small numbers in small tanks they get bored I guess, and turn on other fish, nipping fins etc. A 55 gallon would be great for a shoal of about a dozen full grown Tigers. You can add Loaches as well (Clown or equivalent - beware though, not all Loaches are sociable like Clown Loaches... do a bit of research). 5 Clowns would do well. You could decorate the tank with Bogwood and plant the tank with Java fern and Java moss, tying them to the bogwood. They'll attatch themselves to it within a couple of months. There.... your first biotope aquarium (far eastern themed). :) And a real, guaranteed stunner!!!

Hey, thanks for the advice! I really want to get tiger barbs. If I got about 10-12 tiger barbs, and 3 or 4 clown loaches, are those the only fish that can go in the tank? or can i add some "community" type fish in the tank also, like other barbs or another type of fish? And i would like to add java moss or fern, and if i did that do i need to get new lighting since i only have florecent? and is there any special care i need for them???
