Stick On Thermometers

Outside.

However, those are not as reliable as those that go inside. Return if unopened and get a suction one for inside your tank from Wamart.

Where in Illinois is Round Lake Beach? Never heard of it...

Its not that stupid! Hmm... I haven't actually seen many stick on ones at the LPS, only thermometer on a suction clip which goes inside. I'd guess inside, but, :X I'm sure thy're outside on a picture I've seen..
      I don't know!!!!!!!!!!!11

Round Lake Beach is 45 minutes away from Chicago :p The theremometer came with a kit, I can't return it. :D You guys think it would be more acurate if I stick on the inside? -_-

If you put it to the light, you see a spectrum of light, right? it's black and you got it from Walmart or Petsmart or the like?

That's not a silly question, quite sensible! I have one tank with the stick-on therm on the inside and 2 tanks with them on the outside. Having tested them with a separate thermometer they are ALL accurate.

No, it has to go on the outside. However, the thermometer that goes inside is more accurate because it is closer to the water and therefore reads it better. The room temp doesn't affect it as much.

Yeah it came with a 55 gallon aquarium kit from Wal-Mart and it is black and it does have a spectrum of light!

I don't see how something that is on the outside can accurately read the temeperature on the inside?

Well, they aren't that bad, actually. It's just that temp fluctuations outside of the tank can throw things out of whack. Plus, the glass conducts the heat or cold, so it transfers over ok.

My 20g has both a stickon and a suction thermometer. The stickon registers about 2 degrees low so I guess it's not a huge deal as long as I know it's always that much low.

eta: I don't think it would be possible to read the stickon kind if it was stuck onto the inside of the tank. On the one I have I have to really get up close and look at a certain angle to see it.

inside. although if you havent stuck it on already i recommend changing it I had a stick on one whihc after a while wore out and only registered one fixed temp, also when i peeled it off it left a nasty mess on the glass.

Oh? I have never stepped foot in that place, despite the mall or whatever they have there (Gurnee). Oh well. I probably won't be driving near there anyways. :p

So, how is the thermometer thing going?

Cluttery, you put yours inside the tank?
