Hello, fairly new here but I do enjoy reading and learning from you all about bettas. I just started buying and keeping bettas around 5 weeks ago, buying mostly from Petco and Wally World---Has anyone any knowledge on some good state side breeders that are of good quality? I have 3 males and 2 females at the moment, 2 of the males are each in a plastic container holding right at 2 gallons of water---1 is a round barrel type container which contained cheese balls, the other is a square plastic container that contained animal crackers. Each of these came from SAMS WHOLESALE---bought junk for kids and got a free tank. My other male is in a round blue tinted bathroom trash can--it's plastic and round holding about 1 and 1/4 water. 1 female is in my 10 gallon with a small anglefish and a plecostomus--Wanting to get a quit large tank to put my angle and pleco in soon. Then last but hopefully not least got my other female in a 1 gallon plastic tank, it's a small aquarium with an undergravel filter and light, however I decided to take the filter out and just clean out the tank every 3-4 days. Haven't spent more than 2 dollars for tanks---.50 for my 1 gallon tank made by aquatic gardens, and 1.00 for my blue tinted trashcan(which was brand new in a set)--got both from yardsales, and of course my throwaway 2 gallon containers cost around 4.00 apeice. SORRY for ramblin along! I'M looking for some nice halfmoon and spike tails (not sure what there called--the fancy ones not the ones found at walmart)------I really love the black color, cream and white, and also the mixed. Love this site, great bunch for what I've seen--keep up the good work!

The spike-tail ones you described are called Crowntails. As far as breeders go I would start looking on AquaBid, they have some beautiful fish on there, and they don't always cost a fortune. Keep checking in on everybodys spawn diaries here too. Alot of times when people breed their fish on this site, they look for people to take some of the bee-bees and usually you just have to pay for shipping. Keep us posted on your search and Welcome Aboard!! You are gonna love it here! :D
