Hi this is my first marine setup don't no if I should be scared, I have recently purchased a aqua medic 90 percula.it is empty at the moment because I'm am just getting everything I need together,I'm setting up a FWLR tank and was wondering how much live rock I would need,it is approximately 270L (70gals),was also wondering if I didn't put the full amount of live rock in could I add to the live rock after the tank has cycled.and my last question is when I bought this tank it had lots of crustations on it (little White hard things ) they have attached to the bak of the tank were the trickle system is and was trying to get them of with a blade but it is very time consuming and alot of them don't come off,was just wondering if you have any ideas to get them off and what are can they carry diseases from when the previous owner owned the tank ???

Pound per gallon, and you could add live rock after yes, and i would just put in the work and get rid of the white stuff

You can only add LR after if it's cured otherwise you'll get an ammonia spike and trigger another cycle, and even then there's a small risk, even if it's cured. If you can add all your LR at once, do it. If you can go with cured LR, do it. It makes life so much easier.

Ok thanx is cured rock dearer ?? And how much would I need??

About .5kg per gallon, or a 1lb a gallon. Give or take, depends on the density of the rock. If it's light and take up a lot of space, you'll need less, if it's more dense, you'll need more. What you are going for is surface area.

you mean inside the back of the tank, right?

You could do a vinegar soak. It takes that crap right off! Wonderful stuff :) It also takes off coralline algae and other calcareous things.

Get really good porous rock and you won't need to cram your tank full of the stuff. Nothing worse, imo, than a tank crammed full of rock!

like this rock.
