I am not finished as I want to add more live plant. I know the cichlids I have in there will eventually try to dig them up but I am thinking about buying large heavy river type rocks and laying them around the plants to prevent digging. I also want to make some caves from the river rocks as well but haven't found any rocks I'd like to use yet.

Anyways, here are my babies!

My red oscar coming to the front of the tank to have his picture taken.

They'll soon fill that tank up, oscars grow like weeds :)

ps. Have you measured the tank yet?

The red is doing very well. He is now the most brave of the bunch. He swims around anywhere now and comes to the front of the tank whenever my boyfriend or I sit down next to it.

The albino oscar is still very shy and likes hiding in the plants. When she does come out, she follows closely behind the red oscar.

The firemouth is so fast, he darts all over the tank picking up sand in his tiny mouth and relocating it to where he wants it.

He is so adorable.

I believe the tank measured to be 60 inches long 24 inches wide, and 24 inches tall.

So it is about 150 gallons then?

149.61 gallons according to a tank volume calculator i used online.

yep a 150us gallon's and 566litres, same as mine... :good:
Do you have any river's/creeks etc near you? I got a load over large bolder pebbles from mine once which i used in the tank...see if i can find the old photo if you want?

Haha I don't eat meat....very good ;)

I am not sure of any rivers or creeks near me but I can probably ask around or look some up online or something? yeah some pictures would be great! :good:

I want to make caves from the rocks but not exactly sure what to use to glue them together. Maybe some type of aquarium sealant or something?

yeah, i don't eat meat. :D

Aquarium silicone is often used to hold rocks together. Though with oscars I'd be careful about positioning as if they knock a stack of rocks over you wouldn't want that crashing into the glass.

I think I would probably take the caves out and just replace them with single stones as the ocsars get bigger. I know how clumsy they are ha. One time my oscar attacked my thermometer in the tank and cracked the glass. It was scary. :hyper:

Looking good nd it will only improve as the fish get bigger

Oscars are great and after now having some for last 5 months I agree when people say they are one of the best and most interesting fish to keep ( so what if they are common as muck lol) I have a pair of albinos about 7 inches and they follow me around tank everywhere.

In my opinion your tank would look better with a background on it and some more decoration inside, I use plastic plants whcih withstood the interest of the oscars, how boutsome silver dollars wit hthe oscars, I have a shoal with mine and they mix really well and the silver dollars look great in a shoal

good luck and keep us updated withpics

Nelly, that other cichlid looks ace in your tank is it a Managuenese?
