Well, I'm currently working on getting my Cichlids up and running. But I do have office space. Not much.

So, my main questions are how small can a nano tank actually be? And are they long term, or just a startup and will have to eventually be moved?

And finally, what kinds of livestock would be able to live in a small nano setup? Would it still be as good of a visual like the 20 and 30 gal nanos?

They can be as small as you want. Although, typically once you start getting into the 5g or less range we refer to the tank as a "pico". "nano" is reserved for 5-30g tanks.

The only difficulty is that as the tank gets smaller, water chemistry, salinity, evaporation, temperature, and other factors become very very difficult to control. Perhaps one of the best choices for an office nano tank would be a mantis nano as those little guys can survive some pretty big swings in water quality. I've seen some great mantis nano cube tanks in offices posted around the 'net.

Thanks. After reading all of the pinned post, well most of them

Seems like I may just try for a 20gal Long setup. But really glad I came here before just jumping into it. I think I'm going to hold off on this project for a while.

Thanks for replying.
