Okay, long-story-short I WAS planning to use my soon-to-be-delivered Fluval 205 to replace the built-in juwel filter in my 110ltr tank. That's now not happening, because...
I sold a tiny 15ltr tank (seriously: litres, not gallons) on ebay for £30. When delivering the tank, the buyer explained how she's split up with her boyfriend, had to move back to her parents' house and give away all her fish, bar her favourites.
I enquired about her old tank, and she told me her ex still had the tank, a 4-footer (145 litres) but was planning to sell, it on ebay. She have me his number and I was straight on the phone. I managed to haggle him down from £120 to £70! Okay, so perhaps I caught him mid-breakup when his mind wasn't too clear, but hey -with the £30 his girlfriend gave me for my 15l I technically only spent £40 on a 4ft tank with stand included!
Anyway, I now have a blank canvas. I'll be using the fluval 205 for this tank, keeping my mollies, guppies, glass cats, swordtails and tetras in my 110ltr, and moving my balas, clown loaches, corys, pleco and CAE into the 145ltr (I know it's still at least 2ft too small but will be better for the time being)
All I need now is a substrate and heating. I'd like to use sand in this tank, for sure.
As far as heating goes, is it better to have one 200w heater or two 100w?
Any advice about this new setup (apart from fish-space issues) will be greatly appreciated!
Sorry for the essay! Hope you're all awake!
