i am going to make a nano reef and i want to use the "argonite" brand live sand. the problem is, i have previously used this sand in some freshwater aquariums of mine. Can i reuse the sand or do i have to buy more?

thx

buy more mate :good:

Yeah buy more, its not that dear.
Incidentally I wouldn't buy the more expensive "Live" version as this IMHO is just a gimmick and the sand will become live eventually with the advent of Liverock etc.
I just purchased small bags of Aragonite sand for around £3.50 a bag.

is it aragonite that raises pH?

yeah, argonite raises pH. i live in canada and the sands here for a SMALL pack is 7.50 each and the big packs are 33.50 each. i dont really want to waste the money though...

If i really have to, i will buy another pack. but im wondering if i reuse the sand, will it mess anything up?

i dont see why it would hurt anything. if it has been in a established tank i would imagine it has allready been through a cycle. the first time i did a saltwater tank i actually just added salt to my freshwater tank (gravel and all) and never had a problem.
