hey ive been wanting a small FW aquarium for my desk. i was thinkin of getting a 1 to 2 gal. ive owned many FW tanks befor, and i currently own a 30 gal SW. i was think of getting some neons or tetras, a dwarf frog and 1 or 2 snails or would this be over stocking?. for plants i want java moss and a java fern or just one of them. r there any plants that stay short besides java moss? would 20 or 40 watt lighting be good? would sand or gravel be better? i already got a good idea of the filter i need. thnx for any answers  :kana: also what do dwarf frogs eat? dont wanna kill it

Neons and tetras should have a larger tank than 1 gallon. You may be able to have an African Dwarf Frog or a betta in there. If you do I'd recommend getting the 2 gallon (bigger is better!)

Either java moss or java ferns would be good. You may be able to have a smaller variety of cryptocoryne. 20 W lighting should be sufficient as both java ferns and moss are low-light plants.

I'd go with gravel for a tank that small.

i think the moss will get pretty large if you dont trim it , same goes for any plant really they will grow toward and up to the light

A friend in college went to the lfs and they told her that she would be fine with the frog and all kinds of small fish in a small tank. The tank was entirely overstocked and the frog ate a few fish and got to be about 5" long and had to be kept in a different tank. Some ppl at the lfs might not know their butt from a hole in the ground ... :S

:flex: The fish you named need warm water. How are you going to heat
a little 1 or 2 gal. tank? That is also a rather small size to try and filter.
Could you do a 2 1/2 gal and have a betta and 2 or 3 white clouds like I
do? Don't need a filter or heater, and they look and get along nicely.
