With my GCSEs going on now i havn't been on as much as i would like but i have started and ahave a few days off so i thought i would just come on. I was going to wait till my GCSEs were over to set up but i couldn't. Its a 12 UK gallon It was to much for me to set up a reef so i went with a more simple FO tank. I have had it set up for a month, i have crushed coral and various base rocks. A big filter and a 5 gallon refugium, i just got a baby tomato clown, Aquarium bred and raised. My water is good and i am doing filter work every 2 days just to keep it free of trapped dirt and build up. He is eating non stop and has decided to make 2 of the rocks that make a cave his home where he retreats and night. I know a nano FO isn't the best tank but in about 2 months i will be getting a 4'x18"x18" tank may do a 10G sump (spare tank) which will be his new home. I may/may not get another tomato clown but defo no more fish in the 12 gallon. Maybe i will close the 12 G down. Who knows? I was expecting it to be so hard but its just as easy is my FW tanks apart from evap, I top up every 3 days just a bit. I also just got some brown algae on the sand in my refigum and loads of bubbles under the sand at the side, i tap the side of the tank and they bubble out so thats ok, but they are only on the side with direct sunlight which is weird. Also my tank is in direct sunlight and the temp is stable 77 (which is good) and min algae, most of which is in the refigum.

Will defo get some pics up soon

Thanks for reading

Its still 1 month and 1 week, and everything is fine, im working on relocating some angelfish so i can turn my 120l (litre) tank marine. But for the moment ones anyone know any inverts that i could put in im having a bit of trouble with brown algae in my refigium (has no other algae or anything). I have never used chemicals so inverts will ve fine just need some.

thanks

Is it diatoms? It's a 12UKgallon right? So if I'm correct a turbo snail would do good and some astrea snails too. Somebody else will come along to help. O and nassarius and ceriths are good. Don't get too many turbo's they get large.
