Just wondering- are starlights better off kept singly or in a group? And if in a group then how many members would you say consists of a comfortable shoal?

Also, can someone explain the difference between L182 and L183 to me? :)

They are fine in a group or alone, I'd suggest a 1 male/2 female trio as ideal though.

182 is spotty, 183 is spotty with white seams on the dorsal/tail

Thank you :) 183 is the one I'm looking for, then. Any idea how much they usually cost?

Starlight, as a common name, does not refer to a specific fish, but rather to a number of generally black and white blackwater, usually quite large, ancistrus spp. They are hard to ID from one another without some semblance of a catch locality.

L-182 grows somewhat larger than L-183 and has fewer dorsal rays.

Thank you :) Do you happen to know how much L183's run for generally?

They had them in Pier (wigan) for about £10 but that was ages ago, they are a bit harder to find than 182. You could ask Jo from Rare Aquatics - she often gets interesting plecs in.
