I was feeding my fish and I noticed Starkist (Female, Orange, Platy) didnt come up for any food. I looked around in the usual spot where she sleeps and I found her between a marble and the plant. I took a shower just incase she was sleeping I wasnt goign to jump to conclusions. I came back and got my net and poked around a little and sure enough she was dead :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( . :rip: :rip:

I got her out and escorted her to the round porcelin gateway to fishy heaven to be with other great fish like Moby Dick and others :byebye: :byebye: .

But I have a couple of questions. Tomarrow I plan on changing the water, should I do this everytime a fish dies? I do it regularly already but I'm just wondering if I should after someone dies.

Also, I know this may be a common, annoying question but is there any real reason why she died? She always got food and seemed to be content. I didnt do any cycling when I first got the fish and I havnt done any because the thought confuses me . I recently put some frys back into the tank..could this have been a factor?

Thanks :/

I'm sorry to hear about starkist :rip: :-( and sorry but I can't help ya with any questions but I'm really sorry to hear that starkist died! :-(

Awww lil'bunny :( I'm so sorry to learn that Starkist died. :rip:

But don't change the water because of it. If you didn't see any spots or any thing else that could be the reason for her death, it was probably because the tank wasn't cycled properly. You will have to learn how to do this for the good of all your other fish.

But, don't worry, you will be able to learn it and I'm sure your dad will help you. Here's a link that you can read with him that explains it all:

You will come to understand that there are good bacteria in a healthy tank that help break down the waste products the fish make and you will learn how to grow them. It's a good science lesson and once you have it down pat, you will be on your way to fishkeeping success!

>>> it was probably because the tank wasn't cycled properly.

Would be my guess to.

Awwe..thanks for all of your help and things you have said. I printed out alot on cycling so I'll probably be reading alot of that in school tomarow ^.^. Hopefully I can save the restof these guys!!!

THANKS AGAIN!!! :D . I'm sure Starkist is in a very happy place.
