i have a 2ftx1ftx1ft tank approx. i was wondering my wife wants to buy a cabinet for the tank to sit on (flatpack) would this be adequate to hold the tank or not

A cheapo flatpack from somewhere like Ikea or MFI- probably not. Wouldn't like to risk it. A solid wood antique cabinet from a secondhand shop- almost certainly. IF there is a specially designed cabinet from the lfs that goes with that tank, then definitely.

Depends which one you buy.

I have my 47.5G on a flat pack table, I just made sure it was solid wood and strong enough to hold the weight before I bought it.

how much did you pay and where did you get it from

About £75 I think it was from IKEA.

Good thick wood, which makes a change from the majority of their stock.
