Had a filter overflow problem due to the filter media being pushed up because of no top on the filter. I noticed that the cheap pressed wood stand that got wet is pulling the bolt heads through the board on the bottom r.h. side and the wood is swelling and getting soft. Just picked up a METAL stand, and plain 20 gal. tank to hold the 3 pl*cos and 20-something platys that live in my 55 gal. while I drain & remove everything to pull & trash the melting stand.

I wanted to change the gravel sometime in the future, it looks like the future is now. Can't really complain, as I got the setup for free, it just needed some work.

Just thought everyone could learn from my situation & check what stands are really made of before you set anything up on them. I sure will.

Yeah, the new gravel looks much better! Old stuff was blue & white, and I was trying to change the tank to a more natural look with earthtones and such. It all worked out better than I had expected, other than working on it till 2 am. All the fish fared well being transfered back & forth, and I was able to use some of the boards from the old stand to make a shelf under the tank to hold the pumps.

So now I have the 20 gal. tank to work on. It will fit under the 55 gal. on the shelf and probably be used as a quarintine tank. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to best set up a quarintine/ hospital tank as far as filters, gravel,( I have a LOT of extra blue & white!) plants, & decorations and things.
