Hi there,

decided to start my fontinalis moss lawn, initially I had even the big rocks covered with moss but decided to leave them exposed. For the majority of rocks I used hair nets, they were a very effective method of attatching them and very fine. The rest were attached using cotton a method I found not as succesful but ok. Here are the pics.

Also with co2 was wondering how long before the lawn will start looking like a lawn?

Regards Darren

once it grows out it might get a bit leggy, so once you grow more moss id reattach it all again and so on till it starts behaving itself.

thanks hey fozzie do you mean rip it apart and start again?

theres 2 ways you could do it, you could either rip it all out and spread all the moss over the pebbles again but using more, or you could trim the longest bits of the moss to what level you would call acceptable, the first way you will get a nice tight carpet quicker, the second way is longer but it will spread eventually, and you will have some extra moss to do what you want with.

I think i am going to be patient, definately dont fancy removing it again lol

If you have high lights it will spread better. If its low light it will be stringy and raggy looking.

G'day frozenbarb,

ordering my lights wednesday and will put me at about 2.25wpg
