this is the fish in question

I've looked on several referance sites and there are no repoted fish native to Sri Lanka that are called "algae eater".

Sorry, I'll keep looking, but LFS are well known for making up names.

Acrually those are a species of fish called ceylonese log sucker or Garra ceylonensis an endemic species to sri lanka.

Always nice hearing about a "new" species of garra, though.
