Spur Thighed Tortoise

Hi there,

we have a tortoise and he is getting increasingly eager to mate trying to hump shoes,bowls and anything about his size ha ha..

wondered if anyone had any advice whether to seek a mate will he stop or what to do with him really...

We have another female tortoise im not sure what type she is but much darker shell and we have had to separate them as he hassles her so much !!
any advice appreciated.

i know it is hilarious he humps everything !! he pulls his head in then throws himself forward and humps.. he seems a bit frustrated and was not sure what to do with him ha ha

it sounds like hes sexually mature and wants to mate with a female, are yours both spur thighed? if so they can mate or are they hermans,

spur thighed = spurs on there thighs

hermans = spur on there tail

the male is a spur thighed but the female is not, she as a much adrker prettier shell..

so basically mating him is the way forward ?? he is getting worse was trying to intimidate the dog through the mesh in his shed yesterday !!!
