just ordered my first sps (3 of them) off the ORA limited release list.

with them obly being 1" apiece do I really need to be dosing alot of additives or just make sure they have high light and alot of water movement around them'

If you are going to start dosing a tank then you must make sure you test the tank for what you are dosing for first of all. It may be that you don't need to dose after all!

Light and water movement are all dependent on the particular SPS species you have. You shouldn't assume that everything needs a fast flow and high lighting. It's best to research the needs of what you are buying.

Cheers

Keys to SPS are correct light and water movement (usually high in both cases, exceptions apply), appropriate or elevated levels of calcium/alkalinity/magnesium, and low nutrients (especially phosphate). Obviously correct temp/salinity must be taken care of, but if you're considering SPS I assume you already have a good grasp of that situation...

yes I do (have a grasp). I was just asking that due to their size they are not going to be "eating" up all of the calcium at a high rate... right?? I was going to buy a 2 part mix (bulk-reef supply) and just test and add when needed (the cal, mag, alk).

I dont need a calcium reactor YET do I? for three sps corals that are 1" each.

just wondering the rate in which they make need additives added

Heh, yeah it takes a while before you have enough calcerous demand to really need a calcium reactor. There's no hard and fast rules on when that will happen, but certainly not for 3 1" frags :)
