is this the right spot for eel questions? anyways i found some spotted eels the other days at my lfs what are they like for temperment and how big of a tank and how big in size do they get.... i dont know if this is there real name considering i could not find info on google

dang haha i was hooping people would not say that i have no clue what kind of eel it is its really skinny and about 6 inches maybe 5 but i think its young it has white spots with a dark body

They sound like they are probably the white spotted morph of Gymnothorax tile, sometimes commonly known as the Snowflake moray. These are brackish water predators that reach around 2 feet in length, they cannot be kept in freshwater, they will eat fairly large fish and will need a tank of at least 75 gallons.

Ignore the care information on the linked page, ive never read so much crap in my life.

Always good to see stores mis-informing to sell a fish.

At the risk of jacking:

At my lfs they have a full grown eel at around the 2 feet mark that does look like the fish you linked CFC.

They also have a larger eel that must be around 3 to 4 feet long (it's very rarely all out of the rockwork) that is a creamy white background with darker spots. Most impressive, especially when he opens his mouth to let the cleaner wrasse in for nose, any ideas what it is? It has the same body and head structure (as far as I can tell)

I'm afraid my knowledge of fish with big mouths and sharp pointy teeth only extends as far as freshwater and brackish species (for now) so as to which species the big moray could be i dont know.
