Hi (Again) soooooooo many questions eh?

Been round my mates house for a xmas drink, and he had a fish only 300l marine tank, but woth spotlights shining down on the tank and live rock. He said because it was a fish only setup, lighting was not crucial to the fish & LR.

Is that ok, seems wrong to me, cos goes against everything i've been told so far

Thanks
Rob

Yeah, lighting doesnt really matter when it just comes to fish and rock aka FOWLR. What have you been told so far that contradicts that?

Yeah the lighting is only important if you have corals, macro algae or other photosynthetic critters (like Clams). With just a FOWLR you can just pic whatever lighting you prefer.

Some people go with really dim "spot" lighting to highlight attractive rocks and leave the rest of the tank looking dark and mysterious, goes good in a dimly lit room and a black tank background.

Yup, spotlights work great on FOWLR tanks. IMO, Mercury Vapor security lights look really cool too.
