Well, now that my tank isn't entirely stocked with anabantoids and amphibians, I realized that I need to actually plug in and use my aerator. 
So I figured, if I'm going to use it, why not attach a sponge filter to it? However, the noise is driving me wonky, I don't suppose there's a way to make it a little bit less like listening to a couldren at full bubble? Is my only option a gang valve?

), you might want to keep this pump (in which case you would need the gang valves anyway). Otherwise, consider downsizing to a smaller pump....or go with the gang valve and just bleed off the excess air.
