Sponge Filter Ok?

I want to get some more DP's and move my current one from its hex tank to a spare 10 gallon tank I have. I have a cover, and possibly a light (incandescent), but I need a filter. Would a sponge filter be OK for a few DP's in a 10g? I'm trying to keep my costs down because I'm saving for a 30+ gallon tank.

I would say yes.

The only thing you would have to keep an eye on is the mess they left after eating. A stronger filter may well clean up after them, but with out this you may have to look at vac'ing after every feed.

Also make sure you have an airstone or something in there to keep the surface agitated.

you could but sponge filters being not so strong your gonna have to siphon out water more often as they are messy
