Hi,

I have a Red Sea Max 250 which has a couple of sponges in the rear compartment.

I have already removed the bio balls but wondered if it is best to remove the sponges as well?

If so do you need to put nything else in its place?

Thanks.

Stef.

Hi Stefday, I'd pull them. In my nano, I use filter floss but I remove it constantly to avoid nitrate build up. SH

You can leave them in there but you need to make sure you regularly remove them and clean them completely. Personally I would do the same as SH and use filter floss and change it maybe a couple of times a week as its easier.
