Splotchy brown marks on fake plants?

Peaked inside my tank today to see some brwon splotchy stains on one of my fake plants. Wondering what this could be...

Certainly sounds like algae to me - happens to a ton of people, including myself. Oughta be able to scrub it right off. Also, if it is truly brown algae (it could be another kind - algae comes in many colors), it could be ocurring because of a lack of light. If you aren't leaving the light on long enough, perhaps up the duration a few hours and see if that helps.
