Spiny Eels

What tankmates would be suitable?
Tank = 40 gallons
I was thinking about a school fo rainbowfish (not sure what species) and an african butterfly fish. Any othe suggestions that would be ok with spiny eels and would not be eaten? Thanks.

Im not really sure to how big spiney eels get but many angel fish?
