Just wondering is their any spiny eel which could fit in a tank of this size? L36", D15", H18".
If so what type of spiny eel? Just to note i have several tetras(neon, glowlight) and shrimps(ghost) in my tank. ;)

Aswell as yellow tails (M.panclus) and zebra spiny eels (M.zebrinsus)

Thanks!
Is their anyway to get hold of these online? Because i never seem to come across them at my petstore. Also im UK based, so if anyone knows a link. :good:

Try Tri-Mar. Go to the bottom of the tropical fish stock page, and theres normally a couple of species down there :good: Ive had one of my eels from there, but the rest I got from BAS in Bolton. If there are any maidenhead aquatics near you (see their site) or if wildwoods, wharf etc is close to you then go for that.

if that doesnt work, which i think shouldnt happen, you could always try contacting the people at your lfs and see if you could make a booking or something. this way they may get some in during their next shipment.

I cant find tri-mar!
Ive looked at it before, but if you could provide a link i would be grateful. ;)

-Also their is a maidenhead aquatics 40mins drive away! It also says they have 120 tropical tanks!

Ive found the tri-mar site,

Zebra Spiny Eel (Mastacembelus Zebrinus), Zig Zag Yellow Tail Eel (Mastacembelus Pancalus). These were the only ones i could find and they both grow to 18" on tri-mar, If you could find any type of eel which grows under 10" id be grateful!

even with a small eel the tetras would probably be eaten

I once bought a tyre track eel from trimar and it was great service

Thanks for the advice, im currently searching for one of the smaller eels and found these:-

Barred Spiny Eel: Macrognathus pancalus
Half-banded Spiny Eel Zigzag Spiny Eel: Macrognathus circumcinctus

Hmmmmm, it says their kept in hard water with ph 0, this possible? And will they be ok if they go in my tank (neutral i think)? (On the online shop).

A peacock eel will not eat tetra.

A halfbanded will not eat tetra

Well the eel I got from them was a zebra spiny eel, and none of the eels you mentioned (if they have been IDed correctly) will get anywhere near 18". They will stay under 8" IME.

Yeah, ive just found out they dont grow big at all! After seeing the same eel on a different site. How big are they when they arrive from tri-mar?
