Hi just bought 3 one striped Peacock spiney eels for my 90gal. Went the shop not really knowing what I wanted and this is the first time I had seen them about so had to buy them. I knew they tend to like small groups so got 3 at about 4-5 inches. However what I didn't know is there were 3 different types of these fish, just found out checking the profiles. Does this species need anything different than the others? I have Macroquathus aral. One striped spiney eel.

Also I totally forgot about the difficulty people can have feeding these on anything other than live food. In the moment it just slipped my mind that I have none in and forgot to buy some. Is it impossible for these to start out on frozen blood worm or Frozen prawn which is what I'm feeding at the moment?

Any other info or help would be most welcome too, thx in advance..

Frozen should do - all mine have come from the shop eating frozen although i know they start them off on live bloodworm.

Mines quite shy i may get him a friend (he has two other eels in there but not m. aral, they are m. zebrinus)....

If yours are anything like mine, dont expect them to eat with the lights on yet.

Good luck!

I have three peacock eels. There a right PITA to feed LOL. Found the best way is to cut a frozen block of bloodworm's in half and dangle it in front of their noses till they decide to eat. It works pretty well, and they get fed twice a week, though half the time at least one of them decides its not hungry so the rainbow shark in the tank gorges itself silly.
