Well actually I knocked the canister into my clean water bucket (don’t ask how) and I got water into the canister. First the canister got super hot and I thought it was going to melt!! But it’s calmed down now. It didn’t get flooded but enough water to cause a reaction. Can I still use the salt once it’s dried? I poured it out onto paper plates to dry out.

I think salt won't spoil as long as you keep it dry and in cool places.
Just make sure it's fully dry and there is no fungus growing on it.

It should be fine. You may have lost some minerals or trace elements but unless you lost half the container of salt, I wouldn't worry too much.
