Spider wood fungus and moss.

Tomorrow I should have some Christmas moss arriving at my house with some other plants. I intend to tie it onto the spider wood in my tank but some branches are covered in a white fungus. I am aware this fungus is harmless and will go away on its own eventually. The question is can I tie moss over it without issues? And if not can I just leave the moss floating in my tank until the fungus disappears?
