if you need to raise the salt level with fish insitue, will this be safe?
and do you just add the salt to the water?

I would suggest doing it very slowly over a few days or a week to avoid any shock to the fish. I wouldn't add the salt directly but remove some water, increase the SG of that water and then slowly return it to the tank.

Just topoff with mixed saltwater till you get up to where you want
